Career Direction & Alignment
Coaching
FIND CLARITY. MAKE CONSCIOUS CHOICE ABOUT WHAT COMES NEXT
Careers rarely follow a perfectly straight line.
Your ambitions can change. Your priorities can shift. Industries evolve, opportunities appear, and sometimes a career that once felt right no longer fits who you are or what you want from your life.
At other times, you may know that you want to progress but feel uncertain about the direction, the next role or the decisions that will take you there.
Career Direction & Alignment Coaching creates the space to step back, understand where you are today and explore where you genuinely want to go next.
It is not about telling you which career you should choose. It is about developing greater clarity around what matters to you, what you bring, what possibilities exist and what direction feels aligned with the person and professional you are becoming.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Career Direction & Alignment Coaching is for professionals at different stages of their career, from those defining their direction for the first time to experienced professionals questioning what they want from the next chapter.
You may recognise yourself if you are:
-
At the beginning of your career and trying to understand where your strengths, interests and potential could take you.
-
Doing well professionally but unsure what's next, with several possible directions and difficulty deciding which one to pursue.
-
Considering a career change but uncertain whether you need a completely new direction or simply a different environment, role or way of working.
-
Feeling stuck or unfulfilled despite having a career that looks successful from the outside.
-
Preparing for your next move, whether that means progression, a new role, greater responsibility or a different organisation.
-
Reassessing what success means to you, as your priorities, values, ambitions or personal circumstances evolve.
-
Exploring an unconventional or less linear career path and wanting to better understand how your different skills, experiences and interests could fit together.
-
Questioning how AI and technological change may affect your career, and considering which capabilities you want to strengthen or how your role could evolve.
-
Returning to your career after a break and reconsidering your professional identity, confidence and direction.
-
Considering entrepreneurship or a portfolio career and wanting to explore whether it fits your ambitions, strengths, lifestyle and appetite for change.
-
Facing an important career decision and wanting a neutral space to think it through without being told what you should do.
DIRECTION BEFORE DESTINATION
When we feel dissatisfied professionally, the natural instinct can be to immediately start looking for a new job.
But changing jobs does not necessarily address what is creating the dissatisfaction.
Sometimes it is the role itself. Sometimes it is the organisation, leadership, culture, level of responsibility or lack of opportunity. And sometimes we have changed, while our career has remained on the same path.
Career coaching gives you the opportunity to step back from the immediate decision and understand the bigger picture before deciding what comes next.
One distinction can be particularly revealing:
Are you moving towards something you genuinely want, or simply away from something you no longer want?
CREATING CAREER ALIGNMENT
Career alignment is not about finding one perfect job. It is about understanding what matters to you now and making more conscious choices about where you want to go next.
Depending on what you are navigating, coaching may explore your values, strengths, motivations, interests, skills, working style, ambitions, financial expectations, environment, lifestyle and longer-term priorities.
Together, we look beyond the immediate career question to understand what may be driving it, what you want more of, what may no longer fit, what possibilities you may not yet have considered and what matters most when evaluating your next move.
The aim is to develop the clarity and self-awareness to make your own career decisions with greater confidence and intention.
UNDERSTANDING YOURSELF BEFORE CHOOSING WHAT'S NEXT
Career decisions become easier when you have a clearer understanding of yourself.
Depending on your situation, selected assessments and self-awareness tools can provide an additional perspective on your behaviour, communication, emotional intelligence, working preferences, patterns and potential.
These may include EQ-i 2.0®, DISC, Enneagram and my 6 Dimensions Compass, selected according to what would be most relevant to your coaching journey.
Assessments don't determine which career you should pursue or define who you are. They provide another perspective from which to create awareness, explore possibilities and support the coaching conversation.
YOUR CARRE IS PART OF A BIGGER PICTURE
Career decisions rarely exist in isolation.
A promotion may bring greater responsibility but affect your work-life balance. A career change can influence financial security and family decisions. Relocation can create new professional opportunities while changing relationships, lifestyle and identity. Entrepreneurship may offer greater independence while introducing a different kind of uncertainty.
This is where my Integrated Coaching approach becomes particularly relevant.
Rather than looking at your career as an isolated problem to solve, we consider the different dimensions of your life that may influence, or be influenced by, the direction you choose.
The objective is not simply to identify what you could do next, but to create greater alignment between your professional direction and the life you want to build.
Ready to Explore What's Next?
You don't need to arrive with your next career move already defined. Finding clarity can be part of the coaching process.
Our first conversation is an opportunity to discuss where you are today, what you are questioning and what you would like to explore.
One-to-one coaching typically involves 6 to 12 sessions, allowing time to move beyond the immediate decision, deepen your self-awareness, explore possibilities and translate clarity into action.
